Did we come to a conclusion that I am Legend was a tragedy? And did we also conclude that he was inherently flawed with human flaws or was it pride that caused his downfall?
I'm not sure if we really came to concrete conclusion on anything about the book yet but i do remember us talking about how Matheson probably gave Robert human flaws because he wanted him to be just another regular person and wanted the reader to see what some normal non-heroic person would do.
I thought it was pride that was his downfall. defending the last thing that was truely his. I say he also a little stubborn because he never decided to leave the house.IMO
Book. In the book, Neville became much more of a character. I got to see certain aspects of his psyche that i certainly wasn't able to grasp just through watching the movie.
Matt I liked the movie more. Not that the book was bad or anything but i just usually like the movies more than a book. The movie gives me a picture to what i am watching unlike the book. I thought they both were well done products though. And Will Smith did a good job acting in the movie.

adding on to above comment...
He probably made Robert non-heroic in order generate mixed emotions about the character, as evidence in our class

i don't think it was pride so much as it was his psychological need to not give up his house after relying on it for so many years.
for those that have seen the movie which did you like better despite the movie being nothing like the book?

Dylan,
Don't you feel like the movie was a little vague on the details after reading the book?
So the "I am Legend" is a tragedy because Robert neville died in the end?
